Breakaway Couplings In the connected state, the breakaway coupling allows liquids or gases to flow normally with minimal
flow resistance. The two halves of the valve body are sealed by an O-ring at the mating surface,
ensuring zero leakage during transfer.
When subjected to an excessive load, the break studs shear and release the two valve halves,
simultaneously activating the spring-loaded poppets, which close the flow path instantly. The pressure of the transferred liquid or gas remains contained within both valve halves until the pipeline is
depressurized or drained. At that point, the breakaway coupling can be inspected for damage, and
a service kit can be installed to restore it to full functionality. Once new break studs are fitted, the
coupling can be returned to operation.
The SBAC Series Breakaway Couplings utilize break studs as the core separation mechanism.
Safety is at the heart of their design — they are engineered to protect fluid transfer systems from
damage while minimizing product loss.
This series combines optimized flow performance with an innovative poppet design. In the event of
an accidental drive-off or unexpected movement of a vehicle or vessel, the break studs activate
under tension or shear force, causing the coupling to separate into two halves. Both valve halves
instantly close, preventing the leakage of potentially hazardous substances.

The tri-star poppet features a conical support frame combined with a coneshaped valve core, forming a dual-cone valve structure with a self-tightening
effect. This design provides excellent pressure-bearing performance and
compared with traditional flat poppets, significantly reduces turbulence and
minimizes flow resistance. It also prevents axial displacement of the poppet
caused by asymmetric pressure, thereby avoiding flow reduction and ensuring
stable, high-efficiency operation.

API Dry Couplers
The SOTUS DCA Series Semi-Automatic Dry Couplers comply with the API RP 1004 8th Edition
(2003) bottom loading coupling standard.
Compared with manual dry disconnect couplings, the semi-automatic version offers a higher degree
of automation, enabling faster connection and disconnection while reducing the risk of human error,
ensures a tight and reliable seal at the connection point, effectively preventing leakage and ensuring
safe, efficient fluid transfer.

API Bottom Tanker Adaptor
(Discharge Valve)
The DCA-A Bottom Tanker Adaptor (Discharge Valve) is designed for bottom loading and gravity unloading
operations on road tankers, in full compliance with the API RP 1004 standard. It is used in conjunction with the
API dry couplers. Flat-bottom design to ensure complete drainage of liquid products during unloading.
The discharge valve effectively prevents product
leakage during disconnection, minimizing loss
and environmental contamination.

The following figure shows the coupling between the
male and female halves.
Working Principle:
After inserting the female coupler into the male adapter, turn it 15° clockwise — the two halves are now
positioned and sealed, During the subsequent 90° rotation, the valves open gradually until reaching the
fully open position. Disconnection is achieved by turning 105° counterclockwise.
